Purpose, Function

Vehicles with TFT LCD

• When the PM accumulation amount in the diesel particulate filter exceeds a certain value, the DPF indicator light and a message in the TFT LCD are displayed simultaneously to inform the driver that DPF regeneration is required.

Vehicles without TFT LCD

• When the PM accumulation amount in the diesel particulate filter exceeds a certain value, the DPF indicator light illuminates/flashes to inform the driver that DPF regeneration is required.

Construction

• The DPF indicator light is built into the instrument cluster.

Operation

Vehicles with TFT LCD

• The message display conditions related to the DPF indicator light are as follows:

“Soot Accumulation in DPF too high” display condition

― PM accumulation amount in diesel particulate filter is 8.0 g/L {0.50 lb/ft³} or more (turns off when it is 5.5 g/L {0.34 lb/ft³} or less)

“DPF Inspection Required” display condition

― PM accumulation amount in DPF is 10.0 g/L {0.62 lb/ft³} or more (turns off when it is 5.5 g/L {0.34 lb/ft³} or less)

• The PCM sends a message indication request to the instrument cluster via CAN communication.

Vehicles without TFT LCD

• The DPF indicator light illumination/flashing conditions are as follows:

DPF indicator light illumination conditions

― Ignition switch ON (turns off after several second)

― PM accumulation amount in diesel particulate filter is 8.0 g/L {0.50 lb/ft³} or more (turns off when it is 5.5 g/L {0.34 lb/ft³} or less)

DPF indicator light flashing condition

― PM accumulation amount in DPF is 10.0 g/L {0.62 lb/ft³} or more (turns off when it is 5.5 g/L {0.34 lb/ft³} or less)

• The PCM sends a DPF indicator light illumination/flashing request to the instrument cluster via CAN communication.
