Purpose, Function

•  The power transistor in the generator is activated by generation control by the PCM and the stabilized output voltage is supplied to the vehicle. (Mazda part number: P31H-*****)

•  The stabilized output voltage is supplied to the vehicle by the IC regulator in the generator constantly controlling the generation while coordinating with generation control by the PCM. (Mazda part number: Other than P31H-*****)

Operation

•  For generator control details, refer to CONTROL SYSTEM. (See GENERATOR CONTROL [WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5)].)
•   The two stator coils form the circuit having a phase difference, and magnetic pull, which operates between the rotor and stator coil by the phase difference, is theoretically eliminated. Due to this, electromagnetic vibration and generator operation noise (electromagnetic noise) have been reduced.

•  Pulsation occurring through voltage rectifying using two stator coils having a phase difference is minimized and stable voltage output is supplied.

•  Inhibits engine-stop by operating the i-stop function.
•  Generator switch to default mode requested. If the temperature of the generator exceeds the specified value, the generator itself stops power generation. But, if the internal circuit of the generator is malfunctioning, the generator may not accept the demand from the PCM.
