REAR SHOCK ABSORBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1.  Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

3.  Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Suspension Link Installation Note.)

Rear Shock Absorber Upper Nut Removal Note

1.  Jack up the vehicle to the unloaded condition, and support the rear lower arm using a jack.

2.  Remove the rear shock absorber upper nuts.


Suspension Link Installation Note

1.  When installing the joint section with a rubber bushing, perform the following procedures:

(1)  Temporarily tighten the stud bolt and nut with the vehicle lifted up.
(2)  Lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the stud bolt and nut to the specified torque.


Rear Shock Absorber Upper Nut Installation Note

1.  Lift up the rear lower arm using a jack and install the rear shock absorber upper nuts.

Rear Shock Absorber Installation Note (With Gasket)

1.  Verify if the gasket secured to the upper part of the rear shock absorber has come off completely.

2.  If the gasket has come off completely, adhere the gasket to the rear shock absorber using the following procedure.

Note
•  If only some part has peeled off, go to Step 3.
(1)  Inspect the gasket for cracks and damage.
•  If there is any malfunction, replace it with a new one.
(2)  Remove any remaining adhesive agent from the gasket and the upper part of the rear shock absorber.
(3)  Apply commercially available adhesive agent to the underside of the gasket shown in the figure.

(4)  Assemble the gasket to the rear shock absorber so that it is seated evenly on the convex portion on the upper part of the rear shock absorber.

Caution
•  Assemble the gasket to the correct position. If the rear shock absorber is installed with the gasket deviated or with a gap, it could cause deterioration or abnormal noise of the rear shock absorber, or cause water to penetrate into the cabin.

3.  Install the rear shock absorber.
