CAPACITOR (i-ELOOP) INSPECTION [i-ELOOP]

Warning
•  If the terminal of one of the i-ELOOP-related parts contacts the vehicle body with the service plug of the capacitor connected, it could cause a fire and damage to electrical parts. In addition, if the terminal contacts your body, it could cause electrocution. Disconnect the service plug of the capacitor before disconnecting the i-ELOOP-related part terminal. (See SERVICE PLUG DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [i-ELOOP].)
―  For the i-ELOOP-related part terminals, refer to the “PROCEDURE BEFORE i-ELOOP-RELATED PART SERVICING”. (See PROCEDURE BEFORE i-ELOOP-RELATED PART SERVICING [i-ELOOP].)

1.  Verify that the capacitor (i-ELOOP) related DTC is detected. (See DTC INSPECTION [i-ELOOP].) (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5))].)

•  If DTCs are detected, repair the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [i-ELOOP].) (See DTC TABLE [PCM (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5))].)
•  If a DTC is not detected, go to the next step.

2.  Turn the steering wheel completely to the right.

3.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

4.  Remove the fasteners.

5.  Pull the upper front over fender in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and detach the clips starting from the vehicle front.

6.  Remove the screw and bolts.

7.  Remove the screws and fasteners.

8.  Do a visual inspection of the capacitor (i-ELOOP).

•  If the capacitor (i-ELOOP) is damaged, replace it. (See CAPACITOR (i-ELOOP) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [i-ELOOP].)

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
