REFRIGERANT LINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (WITHOUT i-stop)].)

2.  Discharge the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT RECOVERY.)(See REFRIGERANT CHARGING.)

3.  Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)

4.  Remove the bolt and disconnect the engine ground.

5.  Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector.

6.  Remove in the order indicated in the table. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

Caution
•  If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

8.  Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST.)


SKYACTIV-D 2.2

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Discharge the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT RECOVERY.)(See REFRIGERANT CHARGING.)

3.  Remove the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

4.  Detach the fastener.

5.  Remove the bolt and disconnect the engine ground.

6.  Remove the bolts for the PCM.

7.  Remove the fastener for the vehicle wiring harness connector.

8.  Set the PCM out of the way.

9.  Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector.

10.  Remove in the order indicated in the table. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

Caution
•  If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.

11.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

12.  Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST.)


Refrigerant line removal note

1.  Disconnect the block joint type pipes by grasping the female side of the block with pliers or similar tool and holding firmly, then tighten the connection bolt.

Caution
•  When securing the block with pliers, wrap a clean cloth around the block. If the block is secured with pliers directly, it could be damaged.


Refrigerant line installation note (1)

1.  Apply compressor oil to the O-rings and connect the joints.

2.  Tighten the joint bolt by hand.

3.  Connect the block joint type pipes by grasping the female side of the block with pliers or similar tool and holding firmly, then tighten the connection bolt.

Caution
•  When securing the block with pliers, wrap a clean cloth around the block. If the block is secured with pliers directly, it could be damaged.


Refrigerant Line Installation Note (2)

1.   After replacing the refrigerant line, add compressor oil to the refrigeration cycle.

•  After replacing the cooler hose (HI)
Supplemental oil amount (approx. quantity)
―  1 ml {1 cc, 0.03 fl oz}
•  After replacing the cooler hose (LO)
Supplemental oil amount (approx. quantity)
―  3 ml {3 cc, 0.1 fl oz}
•   After replacing the cooler pipe
Supplemental oil amount (approx. quantity)
―  1 ml {1 cc, 0.03 fl oz}

6.  Detach the clip.

4.  Remove the nuts from underside of vehicle.

5.  Remove the nuts from top side of vehicle.

6.  Remove the insulator as shown in the figure.

7.  Detach the clip.

8.  Disconnect the vacuum hose.

9.  Set the heater hose out of the way as shown in the figure.

10.  Detach the fastener.

11.  Remove the bolt and disconnect the engine ground.

12.  Remove the bolts for the PCM.
