LIGHTS-ON INDICATOR LIGHT

Purpose
• Notifies the driver that the TNS or the headlights LO are on.
Function
• When the instrument cluster receives the light switch TNS signal sent from the front body control module (FBCM) via CAN communication, it turns the lights-on indicator light on.
• The instrument cluster flashes the lights-on indicator light when it receives a headlight malfunction signal from the front body control module (FBCM) or when the TNS operation signal cannot be received for a specified time.
• The lights-on indicator light flashes in the pattern shown in the figure.
Construction
• The lights-on indicator light is built into the instrument cluster.
Operation
Light switch operation

1. When the light switch is moved to the TNS position, the start stop unit sends (1) a light switch TNS signal to the front body control module (FBCM) via CAN communication.
2. The front body control module (FBCM) sends (2) the light switch TNS signal to the instrument cluster.
3. The instrument cluster turns the transistor on (3) based on the light switch TNS signal.
4. When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the lights-on indicator light is established and the lights-on indicator light turns on (4).
Malfunction detection

1. The instrument cluster turns the transmitter on (2) intermittently when it receives (1) a headlight malfunction signal from the front body control module (FBCM) or when the TNS operation signal cannot be received (1) for a specified time.
2. The lights-on indicator light flashes (3) when the transistor is turned on intermittently.
