REAR FOG LIGHT

Purpose

• The vehicle's presence is signaled to vehicles at the rear by the illumination of the rear fog light during poor weather conditions such as dense fog.

Function

• The rear fog light illuminates when all of the following conditions are met:

― Ignition switch ON (engine off or on)

― Headlights LO or front fog lights on

― Fog light switch is in the R.FOG position

Construction

• The rear fog light is built into the rear bumper.

Operation

1. When the fog light switch operated to the R.FOG position, the start stop unit detects (1) a rear fog light switch signal.

2. The start stop unit sends (2) the rear fog light switch signal to the front body control module (FBCM) via CAN communication.

3. When the front body control module (FBCM) receives the rear fog light switch signal while the headlights or the front fog lights are illuminated, it sends (3) the rear fog light illumination request signal to the instrument cluster via the CAN communication.

4. The instrument cluster sends (4) the rear fog light illumination request signal to the rear body control module (RBCM).

5. When the rear body control module (RBCM) receives the rear fog light illumination request signal, it illuminates (5) the rear fog light.
