With Side Camera

Outline

• Images at the left front side of the vehicle shot by the side camera located in the front passenger's outer mirror are displayed in the center display to aid the driver in verifying the safety of the surrounding area.

• When the vehicle is reversing, images at the rear of the vehicle shot by the rear mount camera on the liftgate garnish are displayed in the center display to aid the driver in verifying the presence of pedestrians and obstructions at the rear of the vehicle.

Functions

Side monitor display function

• When the connectivity master unit (CMU) receives a video signal from the parking assist unit (optical), it displays the images at the left front side of the vehicle shot by the side camera and the distance reference lines in the center display.

Caution

• The guide lines in the side monitor display are displayed based on the camera range when the outer mirrors are not retracted. If the vehicle is driven with the outer mirrors retracted and the guide lines are used for visual reference, the vehicle may hit an obstruction. Use the side monitor display when the outer mirrors are in the on-road position.

Camera light on

• The parking assist unit (optical) supplies power to the camera light positioned in the outer mirror (LH) and turns on the camera light.

Rear view monitor display function

• When the CMU receives a video signal from the parking assist unit (optical), it displays the distance reference lines and vehicle width extension lines on the image at the rear of the vehicle shot by the rear mount camera in the center display.

Note

• The image range may differ depending on the road surface conditions and the vehicle conditions. In addition, the side camera cannot shoot images near the front bumper and below the rear bumper.

Note

• The image range may differ depending on the road surface conditions and the vehicle conditions. In addition, the rear mount camera cannot shoot images near both sides of the rear bumper and below the rear bumper.

Operation

Note

• Under the following conditions, images shot by the side camera and rear mount camera may be difficult to see, however this does not indicate a malfunction.

― Light from the sun or a vehicle's headlights is reflected off the lens

― The image range is dark due to low light levels such as in the evening

― The temperature around the lens increases or decreases

― Water droplets, snow, or mud is on the lens

Side monitor display

1. When the parking assist unit (optical) receives the following signals, it supplies (1) power to the side camera.

― Ignition switch ON (engine off or on) signal

― Monitor switch ON signal

― Vehicle speed signal of less than 10 km/h

2. The side camera shoots (2) color images at the left front side of the vehicle when power is supplied.

3. The side camera combines the distance reference lines and the vehicle width extension lines with the camera images and converts (3) them to a video signal.

4. The side camera sends (4) the converted video signal to the parking assist unit (optical).

5. The parking assist unit (optical) sends (5) the video signal received from the side camera to the CMU.

6. The CMU converts the video signal received from the parking assist unit (optical) to a LVDS signal and sends (6) the LVDS signal to the center display.

7. The center display indicates (7) the images at the left front side of the vehicle based on the LVDS signal received from the CMU.

8. If the parking assist unit (optical) receives an R position signal, it interrupts the power supply to the side camera and switches (8) the center display to the rear view monitor screen.

Camera light on

1. When the parking assist unit (optical) receives the following signals, it supplies (1) power to the camera light.

― Ignition switch ON (engine off or on) signal

― Monitor switch on signal

― Headlights-on signal

― Vehicle speed signal of less than 10 km/h

2. The camera light turns on (2) when power is supplied.

Rear view monitor display

1. When the parking assist unit (optical) receives (1) an ignition switch ON (engine off or on) and R position signal from the selector lever, it supplies (1) power to the rear mount camera.

2. The rear mount camera shoots (2) color images at the rear of the vehicle when power is supplied.

3. The rear mount camera combines (3) the distance reference lines and the vehicle width extension lines with the camera images and converts them to a video signal.

4. The rear mount camera sends (4) the converted video signal to the parking assist unit (optical).

5. The parking assist unit (optical) sends (5) the video signal received from the rear mount camera to the CMU.

6. The CMU converts the video signal received from the parking assist unit (optical) to a LVDS signal and sends (6) the LVDS signal to the center display.

7. The center display indicates (7) the images at the rear of the vehicle based on the LVDS signal received from the CMU.

8. When the parking assist unit (optical) receives (8) a monitor switch on signal, it interrupts power supply to the side camera and switches the center display to the side monitor screen.

Guide line display (With ixed assist lines display type)

1. When the ignition is switched to ACC or ON (engine off or on) and an R position signal from the selector lever is received (1), the CMU supplies (1) power to the rear mount camera.

2. The rear mount camera shoots the conditions at the rear of the vehicle in color which is converted (2) to a video signal.

3. The rear mount camera combines the distance reference lines (fixed lines) and the vehicle width extension lines with the camera images and converts (3) them to a video signal.

4. The rear mount camera sends (4) the converted video signal to the connectivity master unit (CMU).

5. When a video signal is received from the rear mount camera, the CMU sends the received (5) video signal (LVDS signal) to the center display.

6. The center display displays (6) the images at the rear of the vehicle taken by the rear mount camera based on the received video signal (LVDS signal).

Predicted vehicle track display (With predicted vehicle path assist lines display type)

1. When the ignition is switched to ACC or ON (engine off or on) and an R position signal from the selector lever is received (1), the CMU supplies (1) power to the rear mount camera.

2. The rear mount camera shoots the conditions at the rear of the vehicle in color which is converted (2) to a video signal.

3. The rear mount camera calculates (3) the predicted vehicle track based on the steering angle (relative angle) signal and steering angle (estimated absolute angle) signal received from the electric power steering (EPS) control module.

4. The rear mount camera combines (4) the distance reference line, vehicle width extension line, and calculated predicted vehicle track with the camera images and converts them to a video signal.

5. The rear mount camera sends (5) the converted video signal to the connectivity master unit (CMU).

6. When a video signal is received from the rear mount camera, the CMU sends the received (6) video signal (LVDS signal) to the center display.

7. The center display displays (7) the images at the rear of the vehicle taken by the rear mount camera based on the received video signal (LVDS signal).
