• The SRS air bag system can be identified by whether or not the seat track position sensor is present.

― Standard deployment control system: Without seat track position sensor
― Two-step deployment control system: With seat track position sensor
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
2. Remove the following parts:
- (1) Driver-side air bag module (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

- (2) Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

- (3) Column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3. Remove the clock spring. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)
4. Verify that the continuity is as indicated in the table.

• When the vehicle-side connector for the clock spring is disconnected, terminals 2A and 2B are shorted to prevent unexpected operation (deployment) of the air bag module.
