MAZDA ERA-GLONASS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Note
•  There are 2 types of Mazda ERA-GLONASS control modules, type A and type B, and the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module replacement procedure for each one differs.
•  The type of Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module can be determined using the following procedure.
1.  Verify the front bumper shape.

2.  Determine the type of Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module.
―  If front bumper shape is type A, Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module is type A
―  If front bumper shape is type B, Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module is type B

Type A

1.  When replacing the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module, perform the following procedure.

(1)  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
(2)  After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initialization screen of the M-MDS.
1.  Select "Electrical" .
(3)  Then, select items from the screen menu in the following order.
1.  Select "DCM" .
2.  Select "Configuration mode" .
3.  Select "Install new module" .
(4)  Perform the procedure according to the directions on the screen.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Console side panel (See CONSOLE SIDE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Switch panel (See SWITCH PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Cup holder (See CUP HOLDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Shift lever knob (MTX) (See SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [C66M-R, C66MX-R].)
(5)  Selector lever knob (ATX) (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(6)  Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(7)  Front console box (See FRONT CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(8)  Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(9)  Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the bolts.

5.  Remove the bracket A.

6.  Remove the ground bolts.

7.  Remove the ground.

8.  Remove the bolt.

9.  Remove the nuts.

10.  Remove the wiring harness clip.

11.  Disconnect the connectors.

12.  Remove the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module and bracket B as a single unit.

13.  Remove the screws.

14.  Remove the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module from bracket B.

15.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

16.  When replacing the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module, perform the procedure according to the directions on the M-MDS screen.

17.  When the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module is replaced, perform the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module finalization procedure.(See MAZDA ERA-GLONASS CONTROL MODULE FINALIZATION PROCEDURE.)


Type B

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Console side panel (See CONSOLE SIDE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Switch panel (See SWITCH PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Cup holder (See CUP HOLDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Shift lever knob (MTX) (See SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [C66M-R, C66MX-R].)
(5)  Selector lever knob (ATX) (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(6)  Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(7)  Front console box (See FRONT CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(8)  Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(9)  Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the bolts.

4.  Remove the bracket A.

5.  Remove the ground bolts.

6.  Remove the ground.

7.  Remove the bolt.

8.  Remove the nuts.

9.  Remove the wiring harness clip.

10.  Disconnect the connectors.

11.  Remove the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module and bracket B as a single unit.

12.  Remove the bolts.

13.  Remove the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module from bracket B.

14.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

15.  If the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module is replaced, perform the following procedure.

(1)  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
(2)  Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
(3)  Activate the M-MDS and perform the following procedure.
1)  Press [Start] to start the vehicle identification.
2)  Press the [Toolbox] tab.
3)  Press the [Work Support] icon.
4)  Press [Mazda Connect].
5)  Press [Run] for [Initializing Emergency call].
(4)  Perform [Initializing Emergency call] according to the directions on the M-MDS screen.
(5)  Switch the ignition OFF.
(6)  Perform the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module finalization procedure. (See MAZDA ERA-GLONASS CONTROL MODULE FINALIZATION PROCEDURE.)
