• Parts for engines manufactured in Mexico and Hiroshima cannot be used interchangeably as the engine will not operate correctly resulting in a serious malfunction. To prevent this, when replacing parts refer to the 'SPECIFICATION IDENTIFICATION' table below and verify the engine's place of manufacture before performing the servicing. 1.Disassemble in the order indicated in the table.

Crankshaft Pulley Lock Bolt Disassembly Note

1.Install the SST to the ring gear to lock the crankshaft against rotation.

Front Oil Seal Disassembly Note

1.Remove the oil seal using a flat head screwdriver.

Chain Tensioner Disassembly Note

1.Hold the chain tensioner ratchet lock mechanism away from the ratchet stem with a thin screwdriver.

2.Slowly press the tensioner piston.

3.Hold the chain tensioner piston with a 1.5 mm {0.06 in}wire or paper clip.

Oil Pump Sprocket Disassembly Note

1.Temporarily install the crankshaft pulley and crankshaft pulley lock bolt to the crankshaft, and lock the oil pump against rotation as shown in figure.

2.Remove the oil pump sprocket, and then remove the crankshaft pulley and crankshaft pulley lock bolt.
