1.Perform color contrast penetrate examination on the cylinder head surface.

• If there is a malfunction, replace the cylinder head.

2.Inspect for the following and repair or replace if necessary.

(1)Sunken valve seats

(2)Excessive camshaft oil clearance and end play

3.Measure the cylinder head for distortion in the seven directions as shown in the figure.

• If the distortion exceeds the maximum, replace the cylinder head. Do not attempt to repair the cylinder head by milling or grinding.

X distortion: 0.01 mm {0.0004 in}

Y distortion: 0.04 mm {0.0016 in}

4.Measure the manifold contact surface distortion as shown in the figure.

• If the distortion exceeds the maximum, grind the surface or replace the cylinder head.
