• The glow plug relay operates under the following conditions:
― During preheating timer operation
― During engine cranking
― While after glow is operating
― During diesel particulater filter regeneration (under restricted vehicle condition)
Preheating Timer
• The PCM operates the glow plug relay for several seconds after the ignition is switched ON according to the engine coolant temperature. The higher the engine coolant temperature is, the shorter the period in which the timer operates.
• The glow indicator light illuminates during the preheating timer operation to inform the driver that the glow system is operating.
Glow Continuation Timer
• The PCM operates the glow plug relay for
7 min. after the engine has been started with the engine coolant temperature lower than
10 °C {50 °F}. When the engine coolant temperature reaches
10 °C {50 °F} or more, the glow continuation timer is cancelled.
