PCM

• Performing the Drive Mode inspects the OBD system for proper operation and must be performed to ensure that no additional DTCs are present.
• During Drive Mode, the following systems are inspected:
― P0101:00 MAF sensor circuit range/performance malfunction
― P0106:00 Boost sensor range/performance malfunction
― P0133:00 A/F sensor circuit malfunction
― P0181:00 Fuel temperature sensor circuit range/performance malfunction
― P0154:00 A/F sensor circuit no activity detected
― P0401:00 EGR flow insufficient detected
― P0402:00 EGR flow excessive detected
― P0546:00 Exhaust gas temperature sensor No.1 circuit high input
― P2033:00 Exhaust gas temperature sensor No.2 circuit high input
― P242D:00 Exhaust gas temperature sensor No.3 circuit high input
― P2227:00 BARO sensor range/performance malfunction
Caution
• While performing the Drive Mode, always operate the vehicle in a safe and lawful manner.
• When the M-MDS is used to observe monitor system status while driving, be sure to have another technician with you, or record the data in the M-MDS using the PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD function and inspect later.

1.Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.

2.Verify all accessory loads (A/C, headlights, blower fan, rear window defroster) are off.

3.Drive the vehicle five times in the driving mode indicated in the figure on a road with a 0% gradient.

4.Stop the vehicle.

5.Verify no DTCs are available.

SCR Control Unit

• Performing the Drive Mode inspects the OBD system for proper operation and must be performed to ensure that no additional DTCs are present.
• During Drive Mode, the following systems are inspected:
― P2BAE:00 NOx exceedance-NOx control monitoring system

Measurement conditions

• Ambient temperature (display temperature on multi information display): -9 °C {16 °F} or more
• Diesel particulate filter is not regenerated
• Verify that the following conditions are met for each PID value using the M-MDS.
― PID BARO: 74 kPa {0.75 kgf/cm 2, 11 psi} or more
― PID ECT: 75 °C {167 °F} or more
― PID NOX_STAT: 30 (Diesel particulate filter manual regeneration not implemented)
Caution
• Do not stop the engine while performing the following procedure.

Verify drive mode

1.Verify that the PID SCR_CAT_T is 160 °C {320 °F} or less using the M-MDS.

2.Drive at a constant speed of 100 km/h {62.1 mph} until the PID SCR_CAT_T is 230 °C {446 °F}.

3.Wait until the PID SCR_CAT_T is 160 °C {320 °F} or less.

4.Perform Steps 2 and 3 again.

5.Drive at a constant speed of 120 km/h {74.6 mph} (continue for 5 min and stop if DTC is not detected)

A
Start accelerating after verifying that the PID SCR_CAT_T is 160 °C {320 °F} or less.
B
Continue to drive at constant speed of 100 km/h {62.1 mph} until PID SCR_CAT_T is 230 °C {446 °F}
C
Decrease SCR converter temperature
D
Drive at a constant speed of 120 km/h {74.6 mph} (for 5 min)
