AdBlue® BLEEDING/CHARGING [MZR-CD 2.2]

Note
• Perform the procedure when the AdBlue® temperature in the urea tank is -9 °C {16 °F} or more.
• Wipe off any AdBlue® liquid around the area as the crystals separate from the liquid as it dries.
• Dispose of any waste AdBlue® according to local disposal laws.

Bleeding/Charging

Caution
If AdBlue® is added in excess of the maximum capacity of the urea tank, the tank could be damaged if the AdBlue® becomes frozen.
Note
• The remaining AdBlue® amount in the urea tank is calculated by the SCR control unit. Therefore, when adding AdBlue®, it is necessary for the SCR control unit to recognize that AdBlue® has been added.

1.Position the vehicle on level ground.

2.Remove the sub trunk box (LH). (See SUB TRUNK BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.Remove the service hole cover.

4.Remove the urea tank filler cap.

5.Drain the AdBlue® in the tank using the specified tool.

6.Add AdBlue® up to the maximum capacity of the urea tank using the specified tool.

7.Install the urea tank filler cap.

8.Install the service hole cover.

Caution
• If there is damage to the seal of the service hole cover, replace it with a new one.
Tightening torque
6.9—9.8 N·m {71—99 kgf·cm, 62—86 in·lbf}

9.Install the sub trunk box (LH). (See SUB TRUNK BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

10.Perform the “Charge Recognition” procedure. (See Charge Recognition.)


Charge Recognition

Note
• Switch the ignition off, wait for 1 min or more, and then perform the following procedure.

1.Switch the ignition ON.

2.Verify the remaining AdBlue® distance-to-empty.

• Remaining distance-to-empty is 50 km {31 mile} or less
1. Wait for 1 min with the ignition switched On.
• Condition other than the above
1. Drive for 3 min at a speed of 10 km/h {6.2 mph} or more.
Note
• Driving for the first 1 min at a speed of 10 km/h {6.2 mph} or more facilitates recognition.
• Constant speed driving facilitates recognition.

3.Verify that the four gauges are displayed.

• If not, switch the ignition off, wait for 1 min or more, and then re-perform the procedure from Step 1.
