Warning

• Remove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury.

• When the battery cables are connected, touching the vehicle body with generator terminal B will generate sparks. This can cause personal injury, fire, and damage to the electrical components. Always disconnect the negative battery cable before performing the following operation.

Caution

• The generator can be damaged by the heat from the exhaust manifold. Make sure the generator duct is installed securely.

L.H.D.

1.Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.Remove the charge air cooler duct and charge air cooler cover. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

3.Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

4.Remove in the order indicated in the table.

5.Install in the reverse order of removal.

Generator Removal Note

1.Remove the cooler hose bracket nut and set the cooler hose out of the way before performing the generator removal/installation.

2.Remove the generator from above the engine compartment.

Generator Installation Note

1.Tighten bolt A temporarily.

2.Tighten bolt B, C to the specified tightening torque.

3.Tighten bolt A to the specified tightening torque.

R.H.D.

1.Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.Remove the charge air cooler and charge air cooler bracket. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

3.Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

4.Remove the exhaust manifold insulator (upper). (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

5.Set the brake vacuum hose out of the way. (See POWER BRAKE UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [R.H.D.].)

6.Remove the brake reserve tank out of the way. (See MASTER CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [R.H.D. (MTX)].) (See MASTER CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [R.H.D. (ATX)].)

7.Set the cooler hose out of the way. (See REFRIGERANT LINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER].) (See REFRIGERANT LINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].)

8.Remove the insulator (power brake unit side). (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

9.Remove the A/F sensor, HO2S. (See AIR FUEL RATIO (A/F) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].) (See HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

10.Remove the WU-TWC insulator. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

11.Remove the clip. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].)

12.Remove in the order indicated in the table.

13.Install in the reverse order of removal.
