Steering angle sensor system
DETECTION CONDITION
• C1295
― The steering angle sensor detects an internal abnormality.
• C1307
― The steering angle sensor detects an abnormality in the signal.
• C1937
― The difference between the steering angle calculated by each sensor and the steering angle from the steering angle sensor exceeds specification.
• C1938
― The difference between the steering angle previously received and the steering angle received at this time is not within specification.
― The signal from the steering angle sensor remains unchanged when the steering angle is turned to the right and left.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Excessive grease is adhering to solid disc for steering angle detection
• Improper installation or positioning of the steering angle sensor
• Steering angle sensor malfunction
• DSC HU/CM malfunction
• Poor connection at connectors (female terminal)

Diagnostic procedure

INSPECT SOLID DISC FOR STEERING ANGLE DETECTION
• Visually inspect the solid disc for the steering angle detection.
• Is excessive grease adhering?
Yes
Wipe off excessive grease using a cloth, then go to Step 3.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR BCM MALFUNCTION
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Using the M-MDS, perform the DTC inspection for the BCM. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)
• Are any DTCs detected?
Yes
Go to applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.
3
VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Clear the DTC from the memory. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS.)
• Are the same DTCs present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
If the malfunction recurs, replace the DSC HU/CM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
4
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Are any other DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
