Caution

• Once the brake switch clearance has automatically been adjusted, it cannot be adjusted again. Therefore, replace the switch with a new one when replacing the power brake unit or performing any procedure that changes the pedal stroke.

1.Remove the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L5].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

2.Remove the battery tray bracket as shown in the figure. (L3 Turbo, L5)

3.For MZR-CD 2.2 vehicles, remove the following parts:

(1)Windshield wiper arm and blade (See WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)Cowl grille (See COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)Windshield wiper motor (See WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)Cowl panel (See COWL PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.Remove the master cylinder component. (See MASTER CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L.H.D. (MTX)].)(See MASTER CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L.H.D. (ATX)].)

5.Remove the brake pipe as shown in the figure.

6.Remove the dashboard under cover. (See DASHBOARD UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.Remove the accelerator pedal. (See ACCELERATOR PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3 Turbo].) (See ACCELERATOR PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L5].) (See ACCELERATOR PEDAL COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].)

8.Remove in the order indicated in the table.

9.Remove the brake switch. (See BRAKE PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L.H.D.].)

10.Install in the reverse order of removal.

11.After installation, add brake fluid, bleed the air, and inspect for fluid leakage. (See AIR BLEEDING.)

12.Inspect the brake pedal. (See BRAKE PEDAL INSPECTION [L.H.D.].)
