Power supply circuit voltage above threshold (16 V or more)

DETECTION CONDITION
• Water heater unit power supply voltage is other than 10.2—16 V
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Generator system malfunction
• W.HEATER 30 A fuse malfunction
• Battery malfunction
• Open or short circuit to ground in wiring harness between battery positive terminal and water heater unit terminal E.
• Water heater unit malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

INSPECTION

INSPECT PCM DTC (INSPECT GENERATOR CIRCUIT)
• Switch the ignition to off.
• Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
• Perform the PCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [MZR-CD 2.2].)
• Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FUSE
• Switch the ignition to off.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Remove the W.HEATER 30 A fuse.
• Is the fuse normal?
Yes
Install the W.HEATER 30 A fuse, then go to the next step.
No
Replace the W.HEATER 30 A fuse, then go to Step 7.

INSPECT BATTERY
• Inspect the battery. (See BATTERY INSPECTION [MZR-CD 2.2].)
• Is the battery normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace/charge the battery, then go to Step 7.

INSPECT WATER HEATER UNIT POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the water heater unit connector.
• Inspect for continuity between water heater unit terminal E and body ground.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair the wiring harness, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT WATER HEATER UNIT POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Inspect for continuity between water heater unit terminal E and battery positive terminal.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the wiring harness, then go to the next step.

INSPECT WATER HEATER UNIT
• Perform the water heater system operation check.
• Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Perform the water heater unit DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC DISPLAY [WATER HEATER SYSTEM].) (See DTC DISPLAY [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].)
• Are DTCs U3003:16 or U3003:17 displayed?
Yes
Replace the water heater unit, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform after repair procedure. (See DTC DISPLAY [WATER HEATER SYSTEM].) (See DTC DISPLAY [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].)
• Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Troubleshooting completed.
