EXPANSION VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER]

1.Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.Discharge the refrigerant from the system. (See REFRIGERANT RECOVERY .) (See REFRIGERANT CHARGING .)
Caution
• If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.
3.Remove the insulator. (See A/C UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER] .)
4.Disconnect the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe. (See A/C UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER] .)
5.Remove the following parts:
(1)Dashboard under cover
(2)Front scuff plate inner (See
FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
(3)Front side trim (See
FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
(4)Console panel (See
CONSOLE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
(5)Console (See
CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
(6)Glove compartment (See
GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
(7)Bonnet release (See
BONNET LATCH AND RELEASE LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
(8)Lower panel (See
LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
(9)Decoration panel (See
DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
(10)Center panel (See

(11)Passenger-side air bag module (See

6.Remove the duct (1).
7.Remove the adhesive polyurethane (1). (See A/C UNIT DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER] .)
Caution
• Being careful not to damage the adhesive sponge rubber or adhesive polyurethane, remove adhesive polyurethane completely.
8.Remove the one bolt and shift the evaporator pipe. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.
9.Remove the two bolts.
10.Remove the expansion valve. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.
11.Remove the screws and plate.
12.Remove the adhesive polyurethane (2). (See A/C UNIT DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER] .)
Caution
• Being careful not to damage the adhesive sponge rubber or adhesive polyurethane, remove adhesive polyurethane completely.
13.Remove the adhesive polyurethane (3). (See A/C UNIT DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER] .)
Caution
• Being careful not to damage the adhesive sponge rubber or adhesive polyurethane, remove adhesive polyurethane completely.
14.Remove the adhesive polyurethane (4). (See A/C UNIT DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER] .)
15.Install in the reverse order of removal.
16.Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST .)
