Rear wiper interval switch input circuit short to ground

DETECTION CONDITION
• Short to ground in wiring harness between BCM and rear wiper and washer switch (INT)
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Wiper and washer switch connector or terminal malfunction
• BCM connector or terminal malfunction
• Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:
― BCM terminal 3X—Wiper and washer switch terminal H (Wiper and washer switch left side)
― BCM terminal 3X—Wiper and washer switch terminal J (Wiper and washer switch right side)
• Rear wiper and washer switch malfunction
• BCM malfunction

INSPECT WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the wiper and washer switch connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the BCM connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT REAR WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Wiper and washer switch and BCM connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
― Wiper and washer switch terminal H (Wiper and washer switch left side)
― Wiper and washer switch terminal J (Wiper and washer switch right side)
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT REAR WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH
• Inspect the rear wiper and washer switch. (See REAR WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH INSPECTION.)
• Is there any malfunction ?
Yes
Replace the wiper and washer switch, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the BCM using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)
• Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the BCM.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
