A/C request switch circuit short to ground

DETECTION CONDITION
• Short to ground in wiring harness between BCM and climate control unit (A/C ON request)
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Climate control unit connector or terminal malfunction
• BCM connector or terminal malfunction
• Short to ground in wiring harness between BCM terminal 3L and climate control unit terminal J
• Climate control unit malfunction
• BCM malfunction

INSPECT CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the climate control unit connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the BCM connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Climate control unit and BCM connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between climate control unit terminal J (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT
• Inspect the climate control unit. (See CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT INSPECTION [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER].)
• Is there any malfunction ?
Yes
Replace the climate control unit, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
5
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the BCM using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)
• Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the BCM.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
