Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
VERIFY MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Measure the voltage at the bonnet latch switch terminal A (wiring harness-side).
• Is there any voltage?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 5.
2
INSPECT BONNET LATCH SWITCH CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the bonnet latch switch connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.
3
INSPECT BONNET LATCH SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Bonnet latch switch connector is disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between bonnet latch switch terminal B (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible open circuit, then go to Step 8.
4
INSPECT BONNET LATCH SWITCH
• Inspect the bonnet latch switch. (See BONNET LATCH SWITCH INSPECTION.)
• Is there any malfunction ?
Yes
Replace the bonnet latch switch, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to Step 8.
5
INSPECT BONNET LATCH SWITCH CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the bonnet latch switch connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.
6
INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the BCM connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS BONNET LATCH SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT OR BCM
• Bonnet latch switch and BCM connectors are disconnected.
• Reconnect the BCM connector.
• Measure the voltage at BCM terminal 1B (wiring harness-side).
• Is there any voltage?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible open circuit, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
8
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the BCM using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)
• Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the BCM.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
