Brake fluid level sensor input circuit short to ground
DETECTION CONDITION
• Short to ground in wiring harness between BCM and brake fluid level sensor
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Brake fluid level sensor connector or terminal malfunction
• BCM connector or terminal malfunction
• Short to ground in wiring harness between BCM terminal 1C and brake fluid level sensor terminal A
• Brake fluid level sensor malfunction
• BCM malfunction

INSPECTION

ACTION
1
INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the BCM connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Brake fluid level sensor and BCM connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between brake fluid level sensor terminal A (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR
• Inspect the brake fluid level sensor. (See BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR INSPECTION.)
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the brake fluid level sensor, then go to the next step.

Go to the next step.
5
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the BCM using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)
• Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS with the brake fluid amount on the upper side of the minimum. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the BCM.

No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
