Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
INSPECT DOOR LOCK SWITCH CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the door lock switch (driver-side) and (passenger-side) connectors.
• Inspect the connectors and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the BCM connector.
• Inspect the connector and terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminal, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.
3
INSPECT DOOR LOCK SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Door lock switch (driver-side), (passenger-side) and BCM connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
― Door lock switch (driver-side) terminal C
― Door lock switch (passenger-side) terminal C
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 5.
No
Go to the next step.
4
INSPECT DOOR LOCK SWITCH
• Inspect the door lock switch (driver-side) and (passenger-side). (See DOOR LOCK SWITCH INSPECTION.)
• Is there any malfunction ?
Yes
Replace the door lock switch (driver-side) and/or (passenger-side), then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
5
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the BCM using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)
• Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the BCM.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
