Audio amplifier circuit malfunction

DETECTION CONDITION
Open or Short in wiring harness between audio amplifier and speaker/AudioPilot ®2 microphone
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Connector or terminal malfunction
• Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:
― Audio amplifier terminal 2D—front speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2F—front speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2B—front speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2A—front speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2K—front door speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2M—front door speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2L—front door speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2N—front door speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2C—rear door speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2E—rear door speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2I—rear door speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2G—rear door speaker (LH) terminal A

― Audio amplifier terminal 2A—front speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2K—front door speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2M—front door speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2L—front door speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2N—front door speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2C—rear door speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2E—rear door speaker (RH) terminal A

• Open circuit in wiring harness between the following terminals:
― Audio amplifier terminal 2D—front speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2F—front speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2B—front speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2A—front speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2K—front door speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2M—front door speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2L—front door speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2N—front door speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2C—rear door speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2E—rear door speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2I—rear door speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2G—rear door speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 3H—rear speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 3F—rear speaker (RH) terminal A

INSPECT SPEAKER CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the speaker connector.
• Inspect the connector for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminal, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AudioPilot ®2 MICROFHONE CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the AudioPilot ®2 microphone connector.
• Inspect the connector for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminal, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AUDIO AMPLIFIER CONNECTOR CONDITION
• Disconnect the audio amplifier connector.
• Inspect the connector for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminal, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AUDIO AMPLIFIER CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Make sure reconnect the disconnected connectors.
• Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
― Audio amplifier terminal 2D
― Audio amplifier terminal 2F
― Audio amplifier terminal 2B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2K
― Audio amplifier terminal 2M
― Audio amplifier terminal 2L
― Audio amplifier terminal 2N
― Audio amplifier terminal 2C
― Audio amplifier terminal 2E
― Audio amplifier terminal 2I
― Audio amplifier terminal 2G
― Audio amplifier terminal 3H
― Audio amplifier terminal 3F
― Audio amplifier terminal 2H
― Audio amplifier terminal 2J
― Audio amplifier terminal 3G
― Audio amplifier terminal 3E
― Audio amplifier terminal 1F
― Audio amplifier terminal 1E
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AUDIO AMPLIFIER CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Measure the voltage at the following terminals (wiring harness-side):
― Audio amplifier terminal 2D
― Audio amplifier terminal 2F
― Audio amplifier terminal 2B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2K
― Audio amplifier terminal 2M
― Audio amplifier terminal 2L
― Audio amplifier terminal 2N
― Audio amplifier terminal 2C
― Audio amplifier terminal 2E
― Audio amplifier terminal 2I
― Audio amplifier terminal 2G
― Audio amplifier terminal 3H
― Audio amplifier terminal 3F
― Audio amplifier terminal 2H
― Audio amplifier terminal 2J
― Audio amplifier terminal 3G
― Audio amplifier terminal 3E
― Audio amplifier terminal 1F
― Audio amplifier terminal 1E
• Is there any voltage?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to power supply, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AUDIO AMPLIFIER CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side):
― Audio amplifier terminal 2D—front speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2F—front speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2B—front speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2A—front speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2K—front door speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2M—front door speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2L—front door speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2N—front door speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2C—rear door speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2E—rear door speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2I—rear door speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2G—rear door speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 3H—rear speaker (RH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 3F—rear speaker (RH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 2H—rear speaker (LH) terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 2J—rear speaker (LH) terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 3G—center speaker terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 3E—center speaker terminal A
― Audio amplifier terminal 1F—AudioPilot ®2 microphone terminal B
― Audio amplifier terminal 1E—AudioPilot ®2 microphone terminal A
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible open circuit, then go to Step 10.

INSPECT SPEAKER
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the speaker, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AudioPilot ®2 MICROFHONE MALFUNCTION
• Make sure reconnect the disconnected connectors.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTC from the audio unit memory. (See CLEARING DTC [AUDIO].)
• Turn the AudioPilot ®2 function on.
• Insert a normal CD.
• Play the CD for 12 s or more.
• Perform the audio unit DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION [AUDIO].)
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the AudioPilot ®2 microphone, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
9
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Clear the DTC from the audio unit memory. (See CLEARING DTC [AUDIO].)
• Insert a normal CD.
• Play the CD for 12 s or more.
• Perform the audio unit DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION [AUDIO].)
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the audio amplifier, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
10
VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE RECORDED
• Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
