Possible DTC

Using the M-MDS

B1022:07, U3003:16

Without using M-MDS (On-board diagnostic test mode)

Audio unit

21:Er19, 09:Er20

Car-navigation unit

• Device code 21/error code 19
• Device code 09/error code 20
Possible cause
• Burnt fuse (TNS signal)
• Open or short circuit in TNS signal wiring harness
• Poor connection of audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) connector, terminal damage
• Audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
• Are all illumination on the audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) turned OFF?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Audio unit
• Replace the audio panel. (See AUDIO UNIT DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY.)
Car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display)
• Replace the car-navigation unit. (See CAR-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Inspect the fuse (ILLUMI).
• Is the fuse normal?
Yes
Go to Step 4.
No
Go to the next step.
3
• Disconnect the audio unit connector (24-pin) and inspect the continuity between the audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) wiring harness-side connector terminal 1E (TNS) and the ground.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the short circuit in the suspect wiring harness. After repair the harness, replace with the appropriate standard fuse.
No
Go to the next step.
4
• Inspect the connection of the audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) connector (24-pin).
• Inspect both the audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) and wiring harness-side connector terminal 1E for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
• Are all the pins normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
If poor connection of audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) connector:
• Securely connect the audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) connector.
If the audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) side connector is wrong:
• Replace the audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display). (See AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) (See CAR-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong:
• Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.
5
• Connect the audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) connector (24-pin).
• Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
• Inspect the voltage at the audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display) connector terminal 1E (TNS).
• Is the voltage B+ when the light switch is turned to the TNS position?
Yes
Replace the audio unit/car-navigation unit (without integrated multi information display).
No
Repair or replace the suspect wiring harness (TNS signal).
