Purpose, Function

•  The amount of exhaust gas not passed through the EGR cooler, which is re-circulated to the intake manifold, is adjusted.

Construction

•  The EGR cooler bypass valve is installed to the intake manifold.

•  Consists of the valve, spring, rod, filter, plug, and motor component.

•  The EGR cooler bypass valve has an integrated EGR cooler bypass valve position sensor. (See EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE POSITION SENSOR [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

Operation

•  The PCM drives the DC motor of the valve by the pulse-width modulation signal.

•  Control of exhaust gas temperature is enabled by cooperative control of the EGR valve.
