Description

Windshield wiper control signal error

Detection condition

•  Front body control module (FBCM) receives the error signals from the start stop unit with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).

Fail-safe function

•  If the driver operates the wiper and washer switch while the windshield wiper switch position signal cannot be received or an error in the windshield wiper switch position signal is detected due to a CAN communication error between the front body control module (FBCM) and the start stop unit, the control is as follows.

―  When the front body control module (FBCM) detects LO/HI ON using the LO/HI detection function: The windshield wipers are operated at low speed.

―  When the front body control module (FBCM) detects LO/HI OFF using the LO/HI detection function: The windshield wipers are stopped at the park position.

•  Start stop unit malfunction

•  Front body control module (FBCM) malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	PERFORM DTC INSPECTION AND VERIFY START STOP UNIT MALFUNCTION • Clear the DTC for the front body control module (FBCM) using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [FRONT BODY CONTROL MODULE (FBCM)].) • Retrieve the front body control module (FBCM) DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [FRONT BODY CONTROL MODULE (FBCM)].) • Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Replace the start stop unit, then go to the next step. (See START STOP UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
1		No	Go to Step 3.
2	VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED • Clear the front body control module (FBCM) DTCs using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [FRONT BODY CONTROL MODULE (FBCM)].) • Retrieve the front body control module (FBCM) DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [FRONT BODY CONTROL MODULE (FBCM)].) • Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. • If the malfunction recurs, replace the front body control module (FBCM). (See FRONT BODY CONTROL MODULE (FBCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) Go to the next step.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED • Are any other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [FRONT BODY CONTROL MODULE (FBCM)].)
3		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
