POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) DRIVE UNIT
id091100010900
Purpose
• The power liftgate (PLG) drive unit outputs pulse to the power liftgate (PLG) control module to input motor operation status.
Functions
• When the power liftgate (PLG) drive unit receives an open/close signal from the power liftgate (PLG) control module, the motor rotates clockwise/counterclockwise.
Structure/Construction
• The power liftgate (PLG) drive unit consists of the following component parts.
-
― A motor (Hall effect switch) which rotates a screw.
― A screw which expands/contracts a piston rod.
― A piston rod which is connected to the liftgate and opens/closes the liftgate.
― A coil spring which drives the motor and assists in maintaining the opening angle.
Operation
Open/close operation
1. When the power liftgate (PLG) drive unit receives an open/close signal from the power liftgate (PLG) control module, it rotates the motor.
2. The screw rotates (1) in conjunction with the motor rotation.
3. When the screw rotates, the piston rod expands/contracts (2) and the liftgate opens/closes.
Hall effect switch operation
-
• The Hall effect switch utilizes magnets set on a rotating axis to detect the motor rotation, and outputs one pulse cycle for each rotation of the motor rotation axis.
• The high and low pulse points of Hall effect switches 1 and 2 are different during opening and closing because the phase difference shifts by approx. 90°.
