Purpose

• The speedometer notifies the driver of the speed at which the vehicle is traveling.

Functions

• The instrument cluster displays the current vehicle speed based on the vehicle speed signal from the PCM.

Structure/Construction

TYPE A

• A digital display speedometer has been adopted.

• The current vehicle speed is displayed in the speedometer display.

Note

• In some countries, you may have to change the speed units between km/h and mph. When pressing the speed unit select switch, the speed units in the instrument cluster will change.

TYPE B

• An analog needle display speedometer with a stepping motor mechanism has been adopted.

Operation

1. The instrument cluster displays (2) the current vehicle speed when it receives (1) a vehicle speed signal via CAN communication from the PCM with the ignition is switched ON (engine on).
