Description

Radar unit axis is deviated

Detection condition
•  Radar unit axis deviation is detected.
Fail-safe
•  Inhibits the mazda radar cruise control (MRCC) system control
•  Inhibits the smart brake support (SBS) system control
•  Inhibits the distance recognition support system (DRSS) control
Possible cause
•  Radiator grille on vehicle with radar unit not installed
•  Dirt on radiator grille ornament, modifications, application of stickers (including transparent types), scratches, or damage
•  Dirt on radar unit, scratches, or damage
•  Radar unit bracket malfunction
―  Impact is transmitted to area around radar unit.
―  Incorrect installation of radar unit
•  Radar unit malfunction

VERIFY IF RADIATOR GRILLE IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED
•  Verify the radiator grille installation condition on vehicles equipped with a radar unit.
•  Is the installation condition normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the radiator grille on the vehicle with a radar unit, then go to Step 6.

VERIFY AREA AROUND RADIATOR GRILLE ORNAMENT
•  Visually inspect the area around the radiator grille ornament for the following:
―  Dirt
―  Adhering foreign matter (reflective object)
―  Scratched or damaged
•  Is there any dirt, foreign matter (reflective object) or damage, or are there any scratches around the radiator grille ornament?
Yes
Return the surfaces of the radiator grille ornament to their normal condition, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AREA AROUND RADAR UNIT
•  Remove front bumper.
•  Visually inspect the area around the radar unit for the following:
―  Dirt
―  Adhering foreign matter (reflective object)
―  Scratched or damaged
•  Is there any dirt, foreign matter (reflective object) or damage, or are there any scratches around the radar unit?
Yes
Return the radar unit to their normal condition, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY CENTER DISPLAY
•  Verify if "The SBS/MRCC Radar (Sensor) is soiled. Clean the entire surface of the Radar (Sensor)." or “The SBS/MRCC/DRSS Radar (Sensor) is soiled. Clean the entire surface of the Radar (Sensor).” is displayed in the center display.
•  Is "The SBS/MRCC Radar (Sensor) is soiled. Clean the entire surface of the Radar (Sensor)." or “The SBS/MRCC/DRSS Radar (Sensor) is soiled. Clean the entire surface of the Radar (Sensor).” displayed?
Yes
Switch the ignition off, leave it for 30 min to cool down the radar unit, switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) again, and verify the message indicating "The SBS/MRCC Radar (Sensor) is soiled. Clean the entire surface of the Radar (Sensor)." or “The SBS/MRCC/DRSS Radar (Sensor) is soiled. Clean the entire surface of the Radar (Sensor).” in the center display.
"The SBS/MRCC Radar (Sensor) is soiled. Clean the entire surface of the Radar (Sensor)." or "The SBS/MRCC/DRSS Radar (Sensor) is soiled. Clean the entire surface of the Radar (Sensor)." is not displayed
•  Go to the next step.
"The SBS/MRCC Radar (Sensor) is soiled. Clean the entire surface of the Radar (Sensor)." or "The SBS/MRCC/DRSS Radar (Sensor) is soiled. Clean the entire surface of the Radar (Sensor)." is displayed
•  Clean the radar unit, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY RADAR UNIT BRACKET
•  Verify that there is no bending or damage on the radar unit bracket.
•  Is there bending or damage on the radar unit bracket?
Yes
Replace the radar unit bracket and perform the aiming adjustment.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Clear the DTC for the radar unit using the M-MDS.
•  Retrieve the radar unit DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the radar unit.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
