SHIFT-LOCK OVERRIDE BUTTON INSPECTION

1.  Verify that the selector lever is in the P position.

2.  Switch the ignition off.

3.  Verify that the selector lever cannot be shifted from the P position when the brake pedal is not depressed.

4.  Remove the release button cover using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver.

5.  Insert the flathead screwdriver and press the release button.

6.  Verify that the selector lever can be shifted from the P position.

•  If it cannot be verified, replace the selector lever component. (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
