Purpose

•  The indicator unit notifies the user of the following conditions.
―  Passenger's side seat belt fastened condition
―  Second-row seat belt fastened condition
―  Third-row seat belt fastened condition
―  Passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) switch condition (with passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) system)
―  Steering warmer operation condition (with steering warmer system)

Functions

•  The indicator unit turns the following warning light and indicator light on / off based on the request signal sent from the instrument cluster.
―  Passenger's side seat belt warning light
―  Second-row seat belt warning light (red) / Second-row seat belt indicator light (green)
―  Third-row seat belt warning light (red) / Third-row seat belt indicator light (green)

Steering warmer switch function (with steering warmer system)

•  The indicator unit sends a steering warmer on/off signal according to the steering warmer switch operation.


Structure/Construction

•  The indicator unit is positioned in the center of the dashboard.
•  The indicator unit consists of the following parts.
―  Passenger's side seat belt warning light
―  Second-row seat belt warning light
―  Second-row seat belt indicator light
―  Third-row seat belt warning light
―  Third-row seat belt indicator light
―  Passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) lettering illumination (with passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) system)
―  Passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) OFF/ON indicator light (with passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) system)
―  Steering warmer switch (with steering warmer system)

Operation


Passenger's side seat belt warning light

1.  When the indicator unit receives (1) the passenger's seat belt warning light on request signal from the instrument cluster while the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), it turns on (2) the transistor.

2.  When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the passenger's side seat belt warning light is established and the passenger's side seat belt warning light turns on (3).

Second-row seat belt warning light / Second-row seat belt indicator light

1.  If a second-row seat belt is not fastened within 60 s after the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), the RBCM sends (1) a rear buckle switch on signal to the indicator unit.

2.  When the indicator unit receives (1) the second-row buckle switch on signal from the RBCM while the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), it turns on (2) the transistor.

3.  When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the second-row seat belt warning light is established and the second-row seat belt warning light turns on (3).

4.  If the second-row seat belt is fastened, the RBCM sends (4) a rear buckle switch off signal to the indicator unit.

5.  When the indicator unit receives (4) the second-row buckle switch on signal from the RBCM while the ignition is switched OFF (engine off or on), it turns on (5) the transistor.

6.  When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the second-row seat belt indicator light is established and the second-row seat belt indicator light turns on (6).

Third-row seat belt warning light / Third-row seat belt indicator light

1.  If a third-row seat belt is not fastened within 60 s after the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), the instrument cluster sends (1) a rear buckle switch on signal to the indicator unit.

2.  When the indicator unit receives (1) the third-row buckle switch on signal from the instrument cluster while the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), it turns on (2) the transistor.

3.  When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the third-row seat belt warning light is established and the third-row seat belt warning light turns on (3).

4.  If the third-row seat belt is fastened, the instrument cluster sends (4) a rear buckle switch off signal to the indicator unit.

5.  When the indicator unit receives (4) the third-row buckle switch on signal from the instrument cluster while the ignition is switched OFF (engine off or on), it turns on (5) the transistor.

6.  When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the third-row seat belt indicator light is established and the third-row seat belt indicator light turns on (6).

Passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) lettering illumination/Passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) OFF/ON indicator light (with passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) system)
