Purpose, Function

•  The fuel pump unit supplies fuel in the fuel tank to the high pressure fuel pump.
•  The fuel pump relay operates based on the control signal from the PCM, power is supplied to the fuel pump from the fuel pump control module, and the fuel pump operates.

Construction


2WD

•  The fuel pump unit is located inside the fuel tank.

•  The fuel pump unit consists of a fuel pump, fuel filter (low-pressure), fuel filter (high-pressure), relief valve, check valve, and reserve cup.

Operation


2WD

1.  The fuel pump is supplied power from the fuel pump control module by the PCM control and suctions the fuel in the reserve cup.
2.  Fuel is filtered through the fuel filter (low pressure).
3.  The fuel boosted by the fuel pump is sent to the feed pipe side and check valve side.
4.  Fuel is filtered through the fuel filter (high pressure).
5.  The fuel passing through the orifice is recirculated to the reserve cup.

•  If the fuel pressure is the specified value or higher, the relief valve opens to release the fuel into the reserve cup to assure the safety.
•  The check valve suppresses fuel vapor occurrence by maintaining residual pressure in the fuel pipe after the ignition is switched OFF and assures boost the next time the engine is started.


4WD

1.  The fuel pump is supplied power from the fuel pump control module by the PCM control and suctions the fuel in the reserve cup.
