Purpose

•  The wastegate valve position sensor detects the actual wastegate valve opening angle mainly as basic information for boost control.

Function

•  The wastegate valve position sensor sends the wastegate valve opening angle to the PCM as a wastegate valve position signal.

Construction

•  The wastegate valve position sensor is built into the wastegate valve actuator.
•  A hall element has been adopted for the detection area of the wastegate valve position sensor.
•  The Hall element detects the change in magnetic flux occurring based on the movement of the permanent magnet (located on the rod), and outputs it as voltage.

Operation

1.  The wastegate valve position sensor detects (1) the wastegate valve opening angle.

2.  The wastegate valve position sensor sends (2) the detected wastegate valve opening angle to the PCM as a wastegate valve position signal.
