Purpose
• The fuel temperature sensor detects the fuel temperature in the high pressure fuel pump mainly as basic information for fuel pump control.
Function
• Detects the fuel temperature in the high pressure fuel pump and sends a fuel temperature signal to the PCM.

Construction
• The fuel temperature sensor is located on the high pressure fuel pump.
• A thermistor has been adopted for the detection part of the fuel temperature sensor.
• A thermistor is a resistor element in which changes in the electrical resistance is large against temperature change. Using this characteristic, the sensor detects the fuel temperature as a resistance value.
• The fuel temperature sensor is integrated with the low fuel pressure sensor.
Operation
1. The fuel temperature sensor detects (1) the fuel temperature.
2. The PCM detects (2) the fuel temperature based on the voltage from the fuel temperature sensor.
