BLOWER MOTOR

id071100001400

Front

Purpose

•  The front blower motor rotates the blower fan to send air.

Functions

•  The front blower motor has the following functions.
―  PWM control function: Controls power MOS FET built-into front blower motor using pulse signals and changes motor operation current
―  Motor: Rotates blower fan to create airflow
•  The front blower motor is equipped with a fail-safe function for the purpose of protecting the internal circuits.

Structure/Construction

•  The front blower motor is located on the blower unit.

•  The front blower motor is composed of a control circuit with a PWM control function, and a motor.
•  A sirocco fan has been adopted for the blower fan.
Control circuit (PWM control function)
•  The control circuit controls the motor rotation speed using pulse.
•  The control circuit decides duty ratio (pulse ON time) based on the signals from the front climate control unit and turns the power MOS FET on or off at high speed.
ac9wzn00001552
•  When a small amount of electricity is flowed to the gate, a large amount of electricity flows between the drain and source and the power MOS FET turns on.
ac9wzn00001553
•  The rotation of the motor is fast when the power MOS FET ON period is long (duty ratio is high), and it is slow when the period is short (duty ratio is low).
•  The control circuit performs duty control using the power MOS FET ON or OFF operation to reduce electric power loss and suppress heat generation in the circuit.

Operation

•  For the front blower motor operation, refer to the [BLOWER SYSTEM]. (See BLOWER SYSTEM.)

Fail-safe

•  The front blower motor stops output for a certain period of time if it detects the following conditions.
―  Motor lock
•  The motor locks and over-current flows.
―  Abnormal temperature
•  The power MOS FET increases temperature abnormally due to half-lock (over-current of a level such that motor-lock is not detected) of the motor.

Rear

Purpose, Function

•  The rear blower motor rotates the blower fan to send air.

Structure/Construction

•  The rear blower motor is located on the rear A/C unit.
ac9wzn00001554
•  The rear blower motor consists of the blower fan and a motor.
•  A sirocco fan has been adopted for the blower fan.

Operation

•  For the rear blower motor operation, refer to the [BLOWER SYSTEM]. (See BLOWER SYSTEM.)

Fail-safe

•  Not applicable
