Purpose, Function
• Turns on/off in conjunction with the latch lever rotation and outputs the liftgate open/closed condition to the rear body control module (RBCM).
Structure/Construction
• The switch is turned on/off by the rotation of the latch lever.
Operation
Liftgate closed (latched) operation

Without power liftgate (PLG) system
-
1. When the liftgate is closed, the liftgate lock striker enters the latch lever groove.
2. When the liftgate is further closed after the latch lever groove enters the liftgate lock striker, the latch lever is pressed by the liftgate lock striker and it rotates.
3. When the liftgate is fully closed, the latch lever is in a latched condition, and the liftgate latch switch turns off according to the operation of the latch lever.

With power liftgate (PLG) system

1. When the liftgate is closed, the liftgate lock striker enters the latch lever groove and turns off the half-latch switch.
2. When the liftgate is further closed after the latch lever groove enters the liftgate lock striker, the latch lever is pressed by the liftgate lock striker and it rotates.
3. When the liftgate is fully closed, the latch lever is in a latched condition, and the liftgate latch switch/full-latch switch/return switch turns off according to the operation of the latch lever.
Liftgate open (unlatch) operation

Without power liftgate (PLG) system

• When the liftgate lock actuator operates to open the liftgate, the latch lever is in an unlatched condition, and the liftgate latch switch turns on according to the operation of the latch lever.

With power liftgate (PLG) system

• When the liftgate lock actuator operates to open the liftgate, the latch lever is in an unlatched condition, and the liftgate latch switch/full-latch switch/half-latch switch turns on according to the operation of the latch lever.
