AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM INITIALIZATION

id091800805800

Caution
Perform the initialization setting with the vehicle under the following conditions:
•  Perform with the vehicle in an unloaded condition (no occupants; spare tire, jack and tools are in designated positions).
•  The DTC inspection has been implemented, and the auto leveling system warning light is not flashing. (auto leveling system is normal) (See DTC INSPECTION [HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM].)
Note
•  If the following servicing is to be done, perform the procedure for the case where system initialization has never been done.
―  Auto leveling control module is newly replaced. (See Initialization Has Never Been Performed.)
•  If the following servicing is done, perform the procedure for the case where the system is reset after initialization has already been completed. (See Initialization Operation Implemented And Resetting To Be Performed.)
―  Auto leveling sensor is removed/installed.
―  Auto leveling sensor is replaced.
―  Procedure for changing vehicle height is performed such as changing suspension.
―  Initialized Auto Leveling Control Module is installed

Initialization Has Never Been Performed

Caution
•  Perform the procedures in Steps 2 to 5 within 30 s.

1.  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

2.  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Caution
•  If the auto leveling system warning light illuminates after 10 s or more have elapsed since the ignition was switched ON, perform the DTC inspection, as it is possible that there is a malfunction with the auto leveling system. (See DTC INSPECTION [HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM].) Repair or replace the malfunctioning area, then repeat the procedure from Step 1.
Note
•  If the auto leveling control module has never been initialized, the headlight auto leveling warning light flashes at 0.25 s intervals. However, this does not indicate a procedural mistake, and continue with the procedure as it is.

3.  Turn on the headlights.

4.  Short the DLC-2 terminal B and terminal J using a jumper wire.

Caution
•  If the terminals are mistakenly connected, vehicle damage or fire could occur. When connecting with the jumper wire, thoroughly verify what terminals are being connected to prevent a miss-connection.
•  DTC output pattern 11 (See DTC INSPECTION [HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM].) is detected, however this does not indicate a procedural mistake, therefore continue with the procedure as it is.

5.  The headlight switch switches in the following order. (OFF→ON→OFF→ON→OFF→ON→OFF)

6.  Verify that the auto leveling system warning light flashes every 0.5 s.

Caution
•  If the auto leveling system warning light does not flash at 0.5 s intervals, this could indicate a malfunction in the auto leveling system, therefore perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION [HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM].) Repair or replace the malfunctioning area, then repeat the procedure from Step 1.
•  If DTC output pattern 12 (See DTC INSPECTION [HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM].) is detected, it is possible that the vehicle height in the unloaded condition is abnormal. Verify the vehicle condition and resume the procedure from Step 1.

7.  Disconnect the jumper wire from DLC-2.

8.  Verify that the auto leveling system warning light turns off according to the table below.

Caution
•  If the auto leveling system warning light flash at 0.25 s intervals, it is possible that the procedure in Step 2-5 was not completed within 30 s. Resume from Step 1.
•  If the auto leveling system warning light illuminates, this could indicate a malfunction in the auto leveling system, therefore perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION [HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM].)Repair or replace the malfunctioning area, then repeat the procedure from Step 1.

9.  Adjust the headlight aiming. (See HEADLIGHT AIMING.)
