TRANSFER DUST SEAL (RH) REPLACEMENT

1.  Remove the middle pipe. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7].)

2.  Remove the front pipe. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7].)

3.  Remove the joint shaft. (See JOINT SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Using the SST, remove the deflector.

5.  Using the SST, remove the dust seal.

6.  Mark the SST at position 18 mm {0.71 in} from the end.

7.  Using the SST and a hammer, tap new dust seal.

Substitution SST

•  49 B032 334

Outer diameter: 38—42 mm {1.5—1.6 in}

Plate thickness: 2 mm {0.08 in} or more

8.  Warm up the outer side surface of the new deflector using a hot air blower at 250 °C {450 °F} for 30 s.

Warning

•  Wear gloves when handling the deflector as it may be hot. Otherwise, it could cause severe burns or serious injury.

9.  Within 10 s after warming up the new deflector, install it using the SST.

Substitution SST

•  49 B032 334

Outer diameter: 38—42 mm {1.5—1.6 in}

Plate thickness: 2 mm {0.08 in} or more

10.  Install the joint shaft. (See JOINT SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

11.  Install the front pipe. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7].)

12.  Install the middle pipe. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7].)

13.  Inspect for leakage of transfer oil.
