•  Audio unit malfunction
•  Short circuit in wiring harness between audio unit
•  Short circuit inside speaker
•  Poor connection of audio unit connector, terminal damage

•  Press the AUDIO CONT button for more than 2 second.
•  Play the CD or Radio.
•  Adjust the volume between”10” and”15”.
•   Is there any sound?
Yes
The system is normal.
No
Go to the next step.
2
•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Remove the audio unit.
•  Disconnect the audio unit connector (24-pin).
•  Inspect the continuity between the audio unit wiring harness-side connector and ground.
For front door speaker
―  Terminal A (LH+)—GND
―  Terminal C (LH-)—GND
―  Terminal D (RH+)—GND
―  Terminal F (RH-)—GND
For rear door speaker
―  Terminal S (LH+)—GND
―  Terminal U (LH-)—GND
―  Terminal V (RH+)—GND
―  Terminal X (RH-)—GND
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the suspect wiring harness or speaker unit.
Note
•  If there is a short circuit between the speaker harness or speaker lead wire and ground, the protector circuit inside the audio unit operates to cut the sound.
No
Replace the audio unit.

•  Speaker malfunction (e.g., any foreign material penetration, damage)
•  Audio amplifier malfunction
•  Open or short circuit in wiring harness between audio amplifier and audio unit
•  Short circuit inside speaker
•  Poor connection of audio unit or audio amplifier connector, terminal damage.
•  CAN signal wiring harness malfunction
•  Short circuit inside speaker
•  Open or short circuit in wiring harness between audio amplifier and speaker

•  Press the AUDIO CONT button for more than 2 seconds.
•  Play the CD or radio.
•  Adjust the volume between “10” and “15”.
•  Is there sound?
Yes
The system is normal.
No
Go to the next step.
2
•  Measure the voltage at audio amplifier terminal 4A (vehicle wiring harness-side)
•  Is the voltage B+?
Yes
Go to Step 4.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the audio amplifier and fuse.
Inspect and repair BOSE 25 A fuse.
Go to the next step.

•  Is there any sound?
Yes
The system is normal.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Inspect the connection of audio unit connector (24-pin) and audio amplifier (40-pin) for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins corrosion).
•  Are all the pins normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.

•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Disconnect the audio amplifier connector (40-pin).
•  Inspect for continuity between following terminals: Inspect the continuity between the following terminals of the audio amplifier connector and speaker connector.
For front speaker (LH)
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3A—front speaker (LH) terminal A
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3B—front speaker (LH) terminal B
For front speaker (RH)
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3F—front speaker (RH) terminal A
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3D—front speaker (RH) terminal B
For front door speaker (LH)
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3N—front door speaker (LH) terminal A
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3L—front door speaker (LH) terminal B
For front door speaker (RH)
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3M—front door speaker (RH) terminal A
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3K—front door speaker (RH) terminal B
For rear door speaker (LH)
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3G—front door speaker (LH) terminal A
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3I—front door speaker (LH) terminal B
For rear door speaker (RH)
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3E—rear door speaker (RH) terminal A
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3C—rear door speaker (RH) terminal B
For rear speaker (LH)
―  Audio amplifier terminal 4E—rear speaker (LH) terminal A
―  Audio amplifier terminal 4G—rear speaker (LH) terminal B
For rear speaker (RH)
―  Audio amplifier terminal 4C—rear speaker (RH) terminal A
―  Audio amplifier terminal 4D—rear speaker (RH) terminal B
For center speaker
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3J—center speaker terminal A
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3H—center speaker terminal B
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the repair related wiring harnesses.

•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Disconnect the audio amplifier connector (40-pin).
•  Inspect for continuity between following terminals:
For front speaker
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3A—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3B—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3F—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3D—GND
For front door speaker
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3N—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3L—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3M—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3K—GND
For rear door speaker
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3G—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3I—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3E—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3C—GND
For rear speaker
―  Audio amplifier terminal 4E—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 4G—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 4C—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 4D—GND
For center speaker
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3J—GND
―  Audio amplifier terminal 3H—GND
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the related wiring harness or the speaker unit.
Note
•  If there is a short circuit between the speaker wiring harness or the speaker lead wire and ground, the protector circuit inside the audio unit operates to cut the sound.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Disconnect the audio amplifier connector (40-pin) and the audio unit connector (24-pin).
•  Inspect the continuity between audio amplifier terminal 2N (vehicle wiring harness-side) and audio unit terminal J (24-pin, vehicle wiring harness- side).
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the audio amplifier and the audio unit.

•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Disconnect the audio unit connector (24-pin) and audio amplifier (40-pin) connectors.
•  Inspect the for an open or short circuit in following wiring harnesses:
―  Audio unit terminal O—audio amplifier terminal 2O (CAN+)
―  Audio unit terminal Q—audio amplifier terminal 2P (CAN-)
•  Is there an open or short circuit
Yes
Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
No
Replace the audio amplifier.

•  Is there any sound?
Yes
The system is normal
No
Replace the audio amplifier.
