•  Speaker malfunction (e.g., foreign material penetration, damage)
•  Improper speaker installation

•  Is there sound break-up or poor sound quality from all speakers?
Yes
Without Bose®:
•  Go to the next step.
With Bose®:
•  Go to Step 4.
No
Go to Step 5.

•  Inspect the sound while adjusting the sound volume.
•  Is there sound break-up or poor sound quality between “15" and “20"?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
The system is normal.

•  Inspect the BASS/TREB.
•  Is there poor sound quality between “-3 —+3” of the “BASS/TREB”?
Note
•  When the AUDIO CONT button is pressed for a few seconds, BASS/TREB is set to “0”.
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
If there is sound break-up between “+6—-6” of the BASS/TREB at the maximum volume, the system is normal.

•  Attempt to duplicate the symptom on another vehicle.
•  Is the sound quality better than the customer's vehicle?
Yes
Without Bose®:
With Bose®:
•  Replace the audio amplifier if the following occurs:
―  Noise occurs from a specific speaker.
•  Replace the audio unit if the following occurs:
―  Noise occurs from two or more speakers.
―  No noise occurs when the volume is minimized.
No
The system is normal.

•  Identify the speaker with sound break-up by adjusting BAL/FADE.
•  Is the suspect speaker pointed upward?
Yes
Go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Inspect the speaker installation condition.
•  Is the speaker installed properly?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Install the speaker properly.

•  Remove the speaker.
•  Is there any foreign material penetration or damage to the speaker?
Yes
Repair or replace the suspect speaker.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Inspect the vibration from the door trim and/or package trim.
•  Do the door trim and/or package trim vibrate?
Yes
Repair or replace suspect part.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Replace with a speaker known to be operational. (e.g., swap right and left speakers)
•  Is the sound break-up heard at the same location?
Yes
Without Bose®:
With Bose®:
•  Replace the audio amplifier if the following occurs:
―  Noise occurs from a specific speaker.
•  Replace the audio unit if the following occurs:
―  Noise occurs from two or more speakers.
―  No noise occurs when the volume is minimized.
No
Replace the speaker.
