POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) FITTING INSPECTION [MZI-3.7]

Airflow Inspection

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7].)

2. Disconnect the PCV valve hose from the PCV fitting. (See POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) FITTING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7].)

3. Verify that there is no airflow when pressure is applied to the PCV fitting using a vacuum pump.

• If there is airflow, replace the PCV fitting. (See POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) FITTING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7].)

4. Verify that there is airflow when vacuum is applied to the PCV fitting.

• If there is no airflow, replace the PCV fitting. (See POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) FITTING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7].)
