Description

BSM control module radar performance malfunction

Detection condition
•  BSM control module detects the radar sensor sensitivity decrease.
•  BSM control module detects the radar sensor axial deviation.
Possible cause
•  Soiling of rear bumper or BSM control module surface
•  Reflective object is adhered to or obstructing BSM control module or area around it.
•  Rear bumper repair
•  BSM control module malfunction

INSPECT REAR BUMPER AND BSM CONTROL MODULE
•  Inspect the rear bumper and BSM control module.
•  Is there soiling of or foreign material (reflective object) on the surface of the rear bumper and BSM control module?
Yes
Remove the dirt or foreign material (reflective object) from the surface of the rear bumper or BSM control module, then go to Step 4.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AREA AROUND REAR BUMPER
•  Inspect the area around rear bumper.
•  Is there any foreign material (reflective object) or obstruction?
Yes
Remove the dirt or foreign material (reflective object) from the surface of the rear bumper, then go to Step 4.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY REAR BUMPER REPAIR HISTORY
•  Verify the rear bumper repair history.
•  Has the rear bumper been repainted? (Is the paint different from the original?)
Yes
Replace the rear bumper and paint it using the original paint, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
4
VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Clear the DTC for the BSM control module using the M-MDS.
•  Retrieve the BSM control module DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
5
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
