―  Recliner motor terminal A—Position memory control module terminal 4H
―  Recliner motor terminal E—Position memory control module terminal 4G
•  Position memory control module malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
INSPECT RECLINER MOTOR CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Turn the ignition switch to OFF position.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect recliner motor connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT POSITON SENSOR
•  Inspect the position sensor. (See RECLINER MOTOR INSPECTION.)
•  Is the position sensor normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the front seat slide adjuster, then go to the next step. (See FRONT SEAT SLIDE ADJUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3
INSPECT POSITON MEMORY CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect position memory control module connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
4
INSPECT POSITION MEMORY CONTROL MODULE CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Position memory control module and recliner motor connectors are disconnected.
•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side):
―  Recliner motor terminal D—Position memory control module terminal 4O
―  Recliner motor terminal C—Position memory control module terminal 4P
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness for possible open circuit, then go to the next step.
5
INSPECT RECLINER MOTOR
•  Inspect the recliner motor. (See RECLINER MOTOR INSPECTION.)
•  Is the recliner motor normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the front seat slide adjuster, then go to the next step. (See FRONT SEAT SLIDE ADJUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6
INSPECT POSITION MEMORY CONTROL MODULE CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Position memory control module and recliner motor connectors are disconnected.
•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side):
―  Recliner motor terminal A—Position memory control module terminal 4H
―  Recliner motor terminal E—Position memory control module terminal 4G
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness for possible open circuit, then go to the next step.
7
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Clear the DTC using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [POSITION MEMORY CONTROL SYSTEM].)
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [POSITION MEMORY CONTROL SYSTEM].)
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the front seat slide adjuster. (See FRONT SEAT SLIDE ADJUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
