FRONT SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning

•  Handling the front seats improperly can accidentally deploy the side air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the front seats. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS)

Caution

•  After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever. If the slider lever is operated, the left and right slide positions will deviate, and the slide adjuster may be damaged after the front seat is installed.

•  Verify that there are no malfunctions in the sliding mechanism after installing a front seat.

•  When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean rag so as not to damage or soil the seat.

1.  Switch the ignition to off.

2.  Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7].)

3.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more.

4.  Remove the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Remove the headrest.

6.  Slide hook A in the direction of arrow (1), (2), (3) shown in the figure to detach it from hook B.

7.  Remove the clip C from the front seat back frame in the direction of arrow (4), (5) shown in the figure.

8.  Remove the clip D then remove the lumbar support lever. (Vehicles with manual lumber support)

9.  Open the fastener.

10.  Partially peal back the front seat back trim, release the pole guide tabs in the direction of arrow (6) shown in the figure, then pull the pole guide out in the direction of arrow (7).

11.  Remove the nut.

12.  Press in the holder bracket to the seat back pad being careful not to catch the frame spring.

13.  Cut the band securing the seat warmer module (Vehicles with seat warmer), side air bag and lumber support (Vehicles with power lumber support) wiring harness.

14.  Disconnect the seat warmer (Vehicles with seat warmer), side air bag and lumber support (Vehicles with power lumber support) connector.

15.  Remove rings C

16.  Remove the front seat back trim and the front seat back pad as a single unit from the front seat back frame by pulling them in the direction of the arrow.

17.  Partially peal back the seat back trim from the seat back pad, remove rings C and velcro in the order of (8), (9), (10) shown in the figure, then remove the seat back trim.

18.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
