Warning

•  If the vehicle is driven without ending maintenance mode, it could result in an accident. After performing the maintenance mode work, always end maintenance mode.

Note

•  When transitioning to maintenance mode, the electronically controlled brake unit and the electric parking brake functions stop.

•  When transitioning to maintenance mode, the clearance between the rear disc pads and the rear disc plates expands.

•  When the maintenance mode is completed, perform the electric parking brake automatic adjustment.

•  With the electric parking brake automatic adjustment, the electric parking brake motor gear unit operation time is longer than normal.

Switching To Maintenance Mode

Caution

•  When performing the procedure while the vehicle is on the ground, block the front and rear wheels using wheel blocks. Otherwise, the vehicle may move when the electric parking brake is released.

1.  Switch the main power ON (READY off).

2.  Release the electric parking brake by pushing down the electric parking brake switch while pressing the brake pedal.

3.  Release the brake pedal, switch to the accelerator pedal and fully depress it, and then hold it in that condition.

4.  Push down on the electric parking brake switch and continue to hold it down.

5.  Perform the following operations within 5 s.

(1)  Switch the main power OFF

(2)  Switch the main power to ACC.

(3)  Switch the main power ON (READY off).

6.  Verify that the brake control system warning light is illuminated in an amber color to indicate it is switched to maintenance mode.

7.  Switch the main power OFF, release the accelerator pedal, and then release the electric parking brake switch.

Ending Maintenance Mode

1.  Switch the main power ON (READY off).

2.  Fully depress the accelerator pedal and hold it in that condition.

3.  Pull up the electric parking brake switch and continue to hold it up.

4.  Perform the following operations within 5 s.

(1)  Switch the main power OFF

(2)  Switch the main power to ACC.

(3)  Switch the main power ON (READY off).

5.  Verify that the brake control system warning light turns off and the maintenance mode is canceled.

6.  Switch the main power OFF, release the accelerator pedal, and then release the electric parking brake switch.
