Outline

•  The parking lock actuator performs the parking lock/unlock operation.
•  Parking lock/unlock is performed by driving the motor in the parking lock actuator based on the switching request signal sent by the PCM.
Caution
•  If the parking lock actuator is installed/removed/replaced, it is necessary to perform the parking lock actuator initialization procedure. Refer to the Workshop Manual for details.

Function

The parking lock actuator has the following functions.

Parking lock switching availability determination/command
Determines switching availability for the parking lock switching command received from the PCM.
Parking lock switching/maintained
Locks/unlocks the parking by the built-in motor to maintain that condition.
Parking lock condition detect/output
The microcomputer in the parking lock actuator detects the current parking lock condition and sends it to the PCM.


Operation


Parking lock switching availability determination/command

•  The microcomputer in the parking lock actuator detects whether or not there is a malfunction in the actuator and sends it to the PCM via CAN communication.
•  If a malfunction is detected, the parking lock switching demand received from the PCM is cancelled.

―  The motor in the parking lock actuator rotates to rotate the manual shaft in the direction of the arrow A.
―  The manual plate installed to the end of the manual shaft rotates.
―  The link connected to the manual plate moves in the direction of arrow B and pushes up the parking pawl to engage it and the parking gear.
―  The parking lock is maintained by engaging the parking pawl and parking gear.

―  The motor in the parking lock actuator rotates to rotate the manual shaft in the direction of the arrow A.
―  The manual plate installed to the end of the manual shaft rotates.
―  The link connected to the manual plate moves in the direction of arrow B and the engagement of the parking pawl and the parking gear is disengaged.
―  The parking unlock is maintained by the manual plate being secured by the detent mechanism.


Parking lock condition detect/output

•  The microcomputer in the parking lock actuator detects the operation angle of the manual shaft to determine the current parking lock condition.
•  The microcomputer in the parking lock actuator sends the determined parking lock condition to the PCM.
