Purpose
• The electric compressor compresses and circulates the gaseous refrigerant in the refrigerant cycle.
Function
• The electric compressor compresses the gaseous refrigerant by rotating the movable scroll using the motor built into the electric compressor as the driving source. It also sends the compressed refrigerant to the cabin condenser.
Structure/construction
• An electric scroll type compressor has been adopted for the electric compressor.
• The electric compressor consists of the inverter, motor, and compressor.
Operation
Inverter

• Converts DC voltage from the HV battery to 3-phase AC voltage.
Motor

• Rotates by the 3-phase AC voltage from the inverter and transmits the drive force to the compressor via the shaft.
Compressor

• The movable scroll rotates by being driven by the motor and performs the intake, compression, and discharge of the refrigerant.
